Andy Murray reached the last four of the Madrid Open with a straight-sets win over Tomas Berdych.
The British No 1 came through 6-3 6-2 against the Czech to set up a meeting with either Joao Sousa or Rafa Nadal in the semi-final.
He is on a collision course with world No 1 Novak Djokovic in his bid to retain the title he won a year ago.
Murray looked in imperious form, racing to victory in just an hour and 16 minutes. He had a first-serve percentage of 92 and did not even face any break points.
The 28-year-old insisted his own confidence was high after backing up his win over 16th-seed Gilles Simon with victory over Berdych.

"It was really good, there were periods in the first set where it was tough. He was hitting the ball well middle to the end part of the first set," he said.
"I served great again, my second serve was fantastic, there were no break points again against someone one plays well in these conditions.
"I defended well and stepped up when I needed to so it was good.
"It is easy to say hit the second serve harder, but sometimes you need to make technical adjustments and have coaching on that.
"I had to make some changes to my serve, and I did a lot of research on it myself.
"I feel much more comfortable going bigger on the second serve, as there is a lot more spin on it.
"I can control the serve better, which frees me up to go more on my first serve as well."
