Scott Quigg: Must face another replacement opponent
Scott Quigg is waiting for a new opponent after Shingo Wake pulled out, but will not be defending his WBA super-bantamweight title against British rival Kid Galahad.

The Bury fighter was due to put his belt on the line against Wake on the undercard of Nathan Cleverly’s rematch with Tony Bellew on November 22, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
An ankle injury has ruled out the Japanese, forcing Quigg to face a replacement for the third successive bout, but he will ignore Galahad’s calls for a domestic showdown.
Mick Hennessy, Galahad's promoter, claims to have offered £400,000 to secure a fight with the world champion.
But Quigg’s trainer Joe Gallagher insists the Sheffield star is not ready for his fighter, who wants to prepare for possible unification fights with Belfast’s IBF title holder Carl Frampton, WBC king Leo Santa Cruz and 'super' WBA and WBO champion Guillermo Rigondeaux.
“Listen, Kid Galahad is a good fighter, but that is not a fight for us at the moment,” Gallagher told the Ringside Toe 2 Toe podcast.
“You are there to be shot at when you’re at the top. Everyone keeps telling us we have to fight Cruz or Frampton or Rigondeaux and that is what we intend to do in the next year, but Kid Galahad - like all contenders - are working their way up. They all want a shot at the world champion and Kid Galahad is no different.
“I don’t know why Mick would want to throw his kid in like that and get him hurt because he’s not ready for it yet, Kid Galahad. He needs to carry on doing what he’s doing and get himself into the title picture within 12 to 18 months. It’s quite outlandish what is being said.”
Galahad even suggested he could defeat Quigg and Frampton on the same night, but Gallagher is paying little attention to his claims.
“It’s laughable. He’s a good fighter who is doing well with what he’s doing, but I think sometimes he is saying stuff or his promoters are saying stuff to latch onto the name of Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton,” said Gallagher.

Promoter Eddie Hearn is expected to confirm Quigg’s new challenger early next week and Gallagher admits his protege needs a stern test if he is going to face his fellow world champions.
"It’s par for the course really for Scott," said Gallagher. "His last two fights have been replacements as well. (Stephane) Jamoye came in late, so did (Tshifhiwa) Munyai. This is the third fight on the spin now that we’ve had an opponent who has pulled out.
"Wake was ranked in the top five in all the governing bodies. He was the No 3 in the WBA, a southpaw and he presented plenty of problems.
"It was a good fight for Scott and we are looking for something similar. We’ve got our eyes on the big fight for the beginning of next year.
"There’s Carl Frampton, there’s Guillermo Rigondeaux and there is Leo Santa Cruz. Scott Quigg will be fighting one of them before May next year."
