Aaron Ramsey has ditched his No. 16 shirt in favor of Mikel Arteta's No. 8 at Arsenal following his departure, the club has confirmed via social media.

Welsh international Ramsey, who joined the Gunners from Cardiff City in 2008, will take advantage of the Spaniard's exit to claim a shirt number inside the traditional first XI bracket.
The 25-year-old had kept the same squad number since his arrival in north London, having previously worn 30 and 24 with the Bluebirds. For the national team, he is adorned with the prized 10 shirt.

Some iconic names have worn the shirt number over the years, including the likes of George Graham, Freddie Ljungberg and Ian Wright.

Following the departure of long-serving creative midfielder Tomas Rosicky, Alexis Sanchez took over the No. 7 shirt last Monday, while Granit Xhaka's new shirt digit has yet to be announced after his arrival from Borussia Monchengladbach.
