The fourth official found himself in an awkward spot during England’s friendly win over Turkey on Sunday.
Turkey boss Fatih Terim was handed a phone by a member of his staff, which apparently proved England’s opening goal was offside. Enraged, he stormed over to the official and passed over the device.

What was the poor official meant to do? He couldn’t very well roll at the classic excuse – “I didn’t see it” – nor could he rule out the goal.
Some reports suggest he tried to confiscate the phone, but the owner was alert and prevented a temporary theft.
Anyway, Harry Kane’s goal stood and England ran out 2-1 winners. Expect FIFA to release guidance on mobile phones in the coming days…
