The 40-year-old defender will be hoping to earn her ticket to Rio after recovering from winter knee surgery.
Christie Rampone may be 40 years old with just seven caps since the start of 2015, but don't count her out of the Summer Olympics just yet.
U.S. national team coach Jill Ellis named Rampone to her 25-player roster ahead of two friendlies against Japan, marking the center back's first call-up since she underwent knee surgery this past winter.
Rampone, who boasts 311 caps and has won three Olympic gold medals, joins goalkeeper Adrianna Franch, defender Gina Lewandowski and midfielder Rose Lavelle as players earning national team recalls after missing out on recent camps, including the Olympic qualifying tournament in February.
Captain Carli Lloyd, the FIFA World Player of the Year, will sit out this camp after suffering an MCL strain last month.
The U.S. will face Japan in two rematches of last summer's Women's World Cup final, clashing June 2 in Commerce City, Colorado, before meeting again June 5 in Cleveland. The world champion U.S. squad is 11-0-0 to start 2016, with 42 goals scored and just one conceded.
