The Reds could have Gotze by the end of the week, Lukaku has chosen to head back to London and United target a speedy Saint. It's Sunday's Paper Round
Liverpool could wrap up the signing of Mario Gotze by the end of the week, while Romelu Lukaku has chosen to head back to London. It's Sunday's Paper Round.
Reds close to landing Mario Gotze for £20 million
The Sun are reporting that Liverpool are close to snaring German star midfielder Mario Gotze for £20 million. A deal is reportedly impending, as the Bayern Munich star is keen on reuniting with his former boss and the club want to get transfer business done early to avoid missing out on targets. The 23-year-old World Cup winner is currently recovering from a broken rib injury, but is approaching peak fitness ahead of Euro 2016 and next season. Klopp believes Gotze is a key component for Liverpool going forward and can help move the Reds into Champions League contention.
Paper Round's view: Gotze is pure x-factor and the icing on the cake. The Reds have a range of rock-steady footballers, but what they don't have is someone who can turn a game through individual brilliance a few times a season. Gotze is exactly that, with his excellent technique and hurdling pace. Say these reports are accurate, the £20 million investment is peanuts compared to what Gotze can deliver.
Romelu Lukaku could be Chelsea bound again
Chelsea are believed to be Romelu Lukaku's destination next season, as the Daily Mail reports the wantaway striker has made up his mind about where he wants to play next. Despite ongoing interest and contact to his agent by Man United, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Bayern Munich, the report says that Lukaku is leaning towards a move back to Chelsea. The catch is that Everton still have a final say where he ends up, as he's in contract and the club has slapped a whopping price tag of £65 million for the Belgian international's services.

Paper Round's view: Chelsea will again play Champions League football at some stage, there's no doubt whatsoever that will occur. Which probably tells you more about his desire to leave Everton, considering he could have just waited around 12 months to then make the jump, considering he'll be in the same position next with Chelsea being outside of European competition. But in the end however, it appears here that money talks the loudest.
United keen on Southampton's Sadio Mane for £25 million
Manchester United are prepared to spend £25 million in order to get Southampton winger Sadio Mane to Old Trafford, according to the Sun. The report says United view Mane as the quick attacking midfield outlet that the club lack, able to play anywhere across the front four or five positions on the ground. United have the belief that Champions League is an irrelevant motivator to get Sane to join the club, as the Red Devils currently don't have the elite club competition they had for other A-list targets like Mats Hummels.

Paper Round's view: Probably a sound investment. Mane has graduated to another footballing level this season, and his natural progression probably means he needs to be around more elite footballers to continue on. Southampton have gotten the most out of Sane, and will no doubt be able to find a replacement with the above market value funds United will hand over for the Senegalese speedster.
Liverpool want Leicester's Danny Drinkwater for £14 million
The Mirror are reporting that Jurgen Klopp is keen on snaring the services of Leicester Citymidfield dynamo Danny Drinkwater. The report says the Reds are preparing themselves to make a bid for Drinkwater, rating him at £14 million. Klopp is reportedly impressed with Drinkwater's contribution to Leicester's historic title win and has placed the 26 year old in his plans to take Liverpool back to Europe next season. It is believed that Claudio Ranieri will resist any attempts to have Drinkwater leave the club, as he has the England midfielder in his Champions League plans next season.

Paper Round's view: Drinkwater would complement a fit Jordan Henderson perfectly. Both work up and down the pitch like mad, and Drinkwater's defensive elements would allow Henderson to roam and do damage with the ball further up the pitch. Klopp rarely misjudges a player, so if they can snare him for that figure it's a huge win for the Reds.
