Liverpool's Alberto Moreno has said he could not celebrate a goal against his hometown team Sevilla in the Europa League final on Wednesday.
Having only scored once for Liverpool this season it seems unlikely that Moreno would find the net on Wednesday; regardless, the defender says he would not celebrate a goal against his boyhood club, even if it was the winner.
Moreno, who was born in Seville, played for the club from the age of 12 when he joined the youth team, up until his move to Merseyside in 2014 - a club he told UEFA.com he considered home.
He said: "I was at Sevilla for ten years – from a young age – but now I'm a Liverpool player; I'm happy here and I’m developing further."
Though the game presents mixed emotions for the 23-year-old, who told Marca: "[Sevilla] was the club that has made me a footballer," he says he is nonetheless hopeful for a win for Liverpool.
"For many reasons I couldn't and wouldn't celebrate," he said. "It might even make me cry with joy and sadness at the same time," though the Spain international - who did not make Vincente del Bosque's Euro 2016 squad, announced on Tuesday - added: "Now we've got to this stage, I'd be lying if I said I wanted them [Sevilla] to win.
"I belong to Liverpool and I want them to win with all of my being."
