The highlight of Mohammed Babaganaru’s return to Kano Pillars was last season’s shock home 2-1 defeat to Nasarawa United at the Sani Abacha Stadium, but if anybody ever doubted that lightning could strike twice on the same ground, well it just happened again with Enyimba running away with a 2-1 win in a rescheduled Matchday 7 fixture.

The NPFL defending Champions started off the back foot going behind as early as 20 minutes into the first half, with Rabiu Ali credited with the goal.
Pillars dominated the game but were a tad unlucky, lacking precision in the final third to bury the game and send Aigbogun and his men packing with introspection and crestfallen egos.
But that was not to be as the Elephants rumbled along chipping away at every little opportunity they created to breach the Pillars and with 6 minutes of a few sights of tekkers Nzube Anazemba poured cold water on any preconceived idea this would be business as usual in Kano.
Paul Aigbogun swung to action minutes later with the introduction of his secret weapon; Mfon Udoh was introduced on the 65th minute, and his presence must have counted for something because 17 minutes on the home crowd were forced to cast their minds back to that ground breaking news of how lowly Nasarawa United ended a decade plus unbeaten record at home in the league.
Ike ThankGod delivered the decisive blow with 8 minutes remaining on the clock. This time, the pain of losing at home again will no doubt run deep seeing the significance of their opponent and having 8 minutes added time to redeem something but all no no avail.
The victor are still in a distant 15th place but with 3 games in hand while the vanquished keep their second spot; but only just.

No doubt now, the question which may become freely spoken in the streets of the football crazed city is if Mohammed Babaganaru still deserves to stay on after what will not be seen as a minor hiccup – where bragging rights and confidence was at stake.
