Kevin Harvick admitted he wasn't that good for the better part of 600 miles on Sunday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but he showed up at the front when counted the most.
Charlotte Motor Speedway, Kevin Harvickadmitted he wasn't all that good.
"We struggled the first 450 miles," Harvick said after the race. "It was a long race. You kind of mentally know that coming into the race. But that's kind of how this race goes sometimes. Once I just convince myself to be quiet and drive the car and give information, we tend to do better."
After starting eighth in the Coca-Cola 600, Harvick credits his No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing crew for making the right adjustments on the car to put him up front.
"They turned a 10th-place car and turned it around to make it a car capable of racing for the win," Harvick said. "Everyone on our team did a great job."
After 13 races, Harvick leads the point standings with one win under his belt. This is also his third runner-up finish of the season.
Despite the night's struggles, Harvick had a smile on his face being able to fight back for a strong result.
"It's fun to be able to race on a night like this," Harvick added. "To be able to do things that we did tonight and turn the car around is neat."
