FA mix up Rooney with Wilshere, and don’t even have a photo of Rashford

Well, this is embarrassing.

The FA announced the England squad for Euro 2016 on Monday morning – or rather, they announced a provisional 26-man squad from which three players will be culled before the May 31 deadline.
The announcement had even been delayed from last Thursday, giving staff at the organisation’s headquarters an extra four days to get their ducks in a row.
And yet they still went ahead and did this. The friends and families of players such as Jack Wilshere, Chris Smalling, Marcus Rashford and even captain Wayne Rooney will not be happy:
The FA's blunder
The FA’s blunder
We know what you’re thinking. One of those fake things, right?
We thought so too, at first.
But consider Occam’s Razor: the rule of philosophy – and indeed life – that insists the most likely explanation is also the correct explanation. This being the FA we’re talking about, you can see where we’re going on that one…
Also, the picture was shared by no less an authority than the sagelike John Brewin of ESPN. So it’s definitely real.

UPDATE: The FA later tweaked things to fix the cock-ups over players such as Chris Smalling, Wayne Rooney and Jack Wilshere. But at the time of writing they still hadn’t sourced an image of Rashford.
So for those of you who’ve been living under rocks since February, here’s what he looks like:
