Breakfast Bulletin: Louis Van Gaal, Hull City, Adam Peaty, LeBron James

LVG blames injury run for poor season, Steve Bruce praises Derby, Adam Peaty takes the gold out in Euro Champs and LeBron bringing drive to the playoffs.
WEDNESDAY MORNING'S BIG STORIES 1- Van Gaal blames injuries for poor season after win over Bournemouth
Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal has come out swinging at critics in his post game press conference, saying the club's disappointing season was due to a number of critical absences that caused United to fall short of the Champions League.
"The issue is the amount of injuries in November and December, particularly in the two full-back positions," Van Gaal told reporters.
"We need creative, fast attackers and we have to take care of that. When everybody was fit we were first in the league. That is the facts."
Van Gaal also pointed to the club's status as one in "transition", suggesting they weren't ready to hit the heights they reached under Sir Alex Ferguson just yet.
The comments come after he was booed by some parts of the Old Trafford crowd when thanking them for their support for the season at the conclusion of their win over Bournemouth. The Dutchman vowed to bring home the FA Cup trophy, as fans displayed anti-LVG banners as he spoke.
United defeated the Cherries 3-1, with a sublime performance from Marcus Rashford who was fresh from his England call-up.
2- Steve Bruce praises tough Derby as Hull City through to Wembley
Hull City boss Steve Bruce has credited Derby with a spirited fight back, despite falling short in the second leg in the Championship play-off semi-final. Hull City held on to their three-goal lead from the first leg, losing the second 2-0 in which Derby outworked and pressed their now Wembley-bound opposition.

A relieved Bruce said: "You have to give big credit to Derby, they had nothing to lose. Derby have responded to all the criticism they have had from all quarters. They were very good on the day. I can only compliment Derby on a magnificent effort."
Despite the praise, Bruce adamant that his side had a poor start to the game and were always working their way back into the contest.
"In the first half an hour we couldn't get near them and we found it really difficult. It was one of them where we have hung on and we got through in the end."
Hull will now take on rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the play-off final on May 28.
3- Adam Peaty thankful for support as he takes Euro champs gold
Great Britian's Adam Peaty was thankful for the home support at the European Championships in London, as the 21-year-old took gold in the men's 100m breaststroke final.

Ross Murdoch of Scotland came in second and claimed silver.
Peaty thanked those who brought the atmosphere to the event and claimed it was one of the best performances in his career to date.
"There was amazing support in the venue tonight and it's definitely one of the best races I've had".
He also said it was "great" to have Murdoch alongside him on the podium and was adamant that the gold was a great kick-start to his Olympic hopes. Peaty set a new championship record of 58.36secs for the event, claiming it "put him in a great place going into Rio."
