Benitez in talks to stay on at Newcastle

Rafael Benitez could be persuaded to stay at Newcastle United next season despite the club's relegation.

According to the Newcastle Chronicle, talks have begun with the club aiming to retain Benitez's services for what they hope is a single-season stay in the Championship.
While it is reportedly unlikely that Benitez will not move on to a club in the top flight of Europe's major leagues, Benitez may stay if his demands are met. These may include control over transfers and all footballing matters, and to establish whether Newcastle have serious long-term ambitions to match his own.
Benitez could exercise a break clause in his contract to walk away from the club, but has been impressed by the passion and support shown by the club's fans.
If he did choose to leave St James' Park, he has been linked with a return to Liverpool, to manage Everton.
